What is Hamlet's attitude towards women? Think of his earlier criticism of Gertrude -- "Frailty thy name is woman" -- as well as the way he treats Ophelia in this scene.

  1. I think that Hamlet is definitely not trusting of women, and even though he is acting in a way he should with the women around him, I can't completely blame him for being like that. His mother wasn't as true to his father or to her family as he thought she was. And, just in this past scene Ophelia was basically lying to him about her true intent and the why exactly she was there. Although he is still doing things like throwing Ophelia around, which is definitely wrong, we also can't completely blame him. The women that surround him cause him to not be so trusting, even if they might be true to their word.

  2. He believes women are the image of deceit. They are the most dangerous because, even after his mother was married to his father, she didn't hesitate to get married again and betray her son and husband to obtain what she wanted. After that, Ophelia began doing errands for her father and he found out. There is now way he can trust women again after what he has seen after he has realized how greedy women really are.

Hamlet feels that women are weak and liars because every women that is related in someway with him, like Ophelia and Gertrude, prove to Hamlet that they actually are. Her mother married two months after Hamlet's father died which makes her a weak person and Ophelia is a liar because she ended her relationship with Hamlet and because she is involved in spaying on Hamlet. Hamlet thinks that every women is like this because this is what he sees every day on Gertrude and Ophelia.

I think Hamlet is acting very rude towards women, as Ophelia, treating her very bad in this act. And towards his mom, Hamlet is hating her because she married with his uncle, he has almost no communication with her, so, he is being very rude towards women.

  5. Hamlet's attitude towards woman is that they are decieving and cruel. Since the women that surround him, his mother and Ophelia, have mainly been liars, he has come to think of all woman this way. Due to the fact that his mother re-married only two months after the death of his father, while Ophelia has been helping in the finding out of Hamlet's true reason for madness, Hamlet has grown to consider women cheaters and liars.

  6. I think Hamlets attitude towards women in most part of the movie may seem bad but it is nessecary in order for him to complete his plans. At the begining of the movie he seemed to be very loving and caring to Ophilia but as she begans to reject him his attitude becomes wierd. I think it would be normal for any man in that situation to behave somewhat similar than Hamlet.

  7. Hamlets attitude towards women is really rude because of Gertrude’s actions. Gertrude by marring Hamlet’s uncle made Hamlet disappointed about women thinking that all of them are like his mother. I think that Hamlet sees women as inferior and weaker and that’s why he was treating Ofelia like a toy.

  9. I think that hamlet's attitude toward women is a little hostile. But at the same time it is understandable. All the women surounding unconciously put themselves in the position of inferiority.

  10. hamlets atitude towards woman in the play is really cruel. as the play developes he has experienced many disapointments from his mother and ofelia so he starts treating them really badly. that why many women can hate the play hamlet but i find his atitude very important for the plot to develope.

  11. Hamlets attitude towards woman is horrible, first he talks to his mother, Gertrude, as is she was not his mother, he says shes guilty for everything is happening, and makes her feel bad about marrying his auncle. At the beginning of the movie, Hamlets treat and attitude with Ophelia is with love and careness, but then after the movie starts to go on, Hamlet treats her very bad, hes gone crazy, and i think by the way she treats Ophelia is the cause of his suicide
